For SLO Coffee, RSAAW designed a cafe experience that balances efficiency with atmosphere. Located on Granville Street at the edge of Pacific Centre, the project connects the energy of the city with a more intimate interior environment. Service, seating, display, and back-of-house functions are organized as a cohesive whole, creating a space that feels intuitive to move through and easy to inhabit. A sculptural counter anchors the interior, giving the cafe a strong focal point and supporting the flow of daily use. A warm palette of polished concrete, plaster-textured surfaces, rich wood mill-work, and micro-topping gives the cafe its distinct character. Custom mill-work, stadium-style tiered seating, and softly illuminated signage add depth and rhythm, while a mix of benches, counters, and window seating supports different ways of gathering, pausing, and spending time. The result is a space that feels calm and contemporary while staying closely tied to the everyday rituals of coffee and conversation.
