King Taps in Langley is the first of the Cactus Club
’s newly launched West Coast modern casual dining experience.
It combines a celebration of the West Coast’s famous relaxed culture and Praire-style architecture to create a restaurant that sits within a gently layered structure, sitting lightly on the landscape.
This King Taps building is all about sculptural form and extensive planting. Combining to create a warm, playful, textured, and accessible space.
Architectural design details abound
. The entrance cornicing creates a discrete overhang to provide shade and a subtle point of interest, whilst varying types of exquisitely finished, highly specified concrete panels create textural interplay with breeze blocks to create an elegant exterior finish with light playing over the varied surfaces.
Carefully chosen wooden roof cladding creates shade over the exterior spaces, causing shadows to follow the sun throughout the day. This makes for a more pleasant outdoor dining experience and provides visual interest for the passing pedestrian.
The interior space provides a warm contrast to the sophisticated exterior with wood elements throughout in windows, doors and shutters, alongside a full planting program.
